U.S. stocks lower; jobs data fail to quell worry over the economy
NEW YORK
U.S. stocks turned lower Friday as investors weighed a solid October
employment report against data earlier in the week that raised concern
about slowing economic growth and inflation, with earnings from Whole
Foods Market, Electronic Arts and Qualcomm an added focus.

U.S. stocks ended lower Thursday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average
taking its fifth loss in a row, hurt by data showing a pick-up in wage
inflation and a rise in jobless claims.

LONDON
Britain's Smith & Nephew on Thursday said it's in merger talks with
Biomet, a maker of artificial hips, to create a medical-products group
to compete against larger rivals including Johnson & Johnson.
U.S. productivity was unchanged in the 3rd quarter, expectations were for a rise. Jobless claims rose to 327,000.

U.S. stocks traded mixed Tuesday as a pullback in shares of Procter &
