Bank of New York to buy Mellon, create top asset custodian
LONDON
The Bank of New York said Monday it agreed to buy Mellon Financial Corp.
in a deal that will create a $43 billion giant ranked as the world's
largest custodian of financial assets and a top-ten asset management
firm.
Pfizer pulls the plug on Lipitor's successor

Shares of Pfizer Inc. tumbled in early trading Monday after weekend news
that it's pulling the plug on a planned successor to its best-selling
cholesterol-lowering drug, Lipitor, over safety concerns.
